We tend to assume an ordered universe, in which connections exist between the internal and external. In our research, we tend to ask &#8220;what&#8221; and &#8220;how&#8221; rather than &#8220;why&#8221;. We ask what people read or view, rather than why they do so. We lack understanding about how people\u00a0inform themselves, how they make connections over time, the sense they make of their world between significant events. Dervin said that instead of studying what &#8220;information does&#8230; for people&#8221; we need to focus on &#8220;what people do to information&#8221; (p. 333).<\/p>\n<p>O d\u00e9cimo e \u00faltimo mito apresenta uma abordagem muito interessante sobre a informa\u00e7\u00e3o que \u00e9 o &#8220;que&#8221; e &#8220;como&#8221; as pessoas a utilizam, ao inv\u00e9s de &#8220;por que&#8221;. Na realidade, como o pr\u00f3prio texto do mito diz, essa\u00a0rela\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 muito mais complexa do que aparenta, j\u00e1 que as pessoas conectam as informa\u00e7\u00f5es externas com sua realidade\u00a0interna. Isso acontece pela tend\u00eancia em se assumir uma ordem no universo a partir das conex\u00f5es entre o externo e o interno.<\/p>\n<p>Por isso, o foco recai sobre o &#8220;que&#8221; e como&#8221;, e n\u00e3o &#8220;por que&#8221; a informa\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 utilizada, a fim de entender como as pessoas se informam, como conectam as informa\u00e7\u00f5es ao longo do tempo e o sentido que atribuem ao mundo entre eventos significativos. Isso melhorar\u00e1 a compreens\u00e3o sobre\u00a0o uso da informa\u00e7\u00e3o em diferentes contextos e por diferentes pessoas, haja vista que algumas vezes at\u00e9 mesmo a pr\u00f3pria pessoa que a procura n\u00e3o sabe exatamente o que quer, carecendo de elementos suficientes para estruturar uma quest\u00e3o que lhe traga a resposta desejada.<\/p>\n<p>E esse mito \u00e9 finalizado com a men\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e0 Dervin de que ao inv\u00e9s de estudar o que &#8220;a informa\u00e7\u00e3o faz&#8230; para as pessoas&#8221;, a aten\u00e7\u00e3o deve se voltar para &#8220;o que as pessoas fazem com a informa\u00e7\u00e3o&#8221; (p. 333, tradu\u00e7\u00e3o nossa), o que \u00e9 v\u00e1lido, considerando-se que o significado de uma informa\u00e7\u00e3o vai al\u00e9m daquele que lhe \u00e9 inato, podendo ser\u00a0atribu\u00eddo outro significado segundo a realidade interna e externa da pessoa que a encontrou.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>10.\u00a0People make easy, conflict-free connections between external information and their internal reality.
